Jimmy Choo...God Bless You!

Gosh I love shoes! (And purses!) I found the most adorable peep toes ever! Ever!!!

Is anybody else sick of Carrie Underwood? I am not a fan of country music anyway so maybe that has something to do with it.

Things I love? Jimmy Choo. Wasabi peas. Peep toes. Purses. The smell of bleach. Chocolate. The ocean. Books. Macs. The color blue. And red. And black and brown. The internet. Overstock.com. Lattes. Being Irish. Skirts. Manicures. Daisies. Photography. Bookstores. Goodwill. Watching Rachael Ray.

Hopefully I will have some pics loaded on my blog today. Mitch has to email them to me because my USB ports are not working on my laptop!

I have to go take my shower. Light some candles. Dishes are all done. I have to do laundry and wash the floor. Pick up Hayley. Go to mail and bank. Get Zach and go to the grocery store. Drop them off and go back and get Kayla.

October 23, 2007

I missed Hayley's meeting at school this morning. Thankfully they let me reschedule for next week!

I find Rosie O'Donnell's blog highly addictive. I loved her back in her talk show days and lately was feeling like something very dark was going on within her after reading her poetry and reading her answers on her ask rosie page. But I am reforming my opinion of her again. It is nice to see the side of her as a "stay at home" mom and her video blogs are reassuring to me that she is still the same Rosie, just saddened by the events going on in the world, passionate about the things she believes in and is an intelligent and creative artist. I certainly don't agree with all of her thoughts and theories, but I trust my own intelligence and judgement enough to be interested in hearing what she has to say. I think it is unnerving for society when America's funny people aren't finding anything to be funny about anymore. Our way of life by choice is escapism. I watch comics to escape what is going on for real. Behind the comedy, though, is a strong woman who says what she needs to even if she is afraid. That is something to be admired.

So it is 11:15 AM. I have loaded the dishwasher, discussed book ideas with Mitch, taken the kids to school, had a latte, planned supper, and caught up on my favorite blogs. I do more staying at home than I ever did at the office. Serious writing needs to commence. I have a Christmas deadline that I can't miss.

Oh My Aching Body...

If someone asks you if you've done the Cliff Walk just say yes. 3.5 miles there...3.5 miles back. I am not sure who exactly thought this was a great idea this morning. I think it was me! My legs are on fire!!! The pictures will be beautiful, though. Glad I remembered the camera so I don't have to do that again. I am sure I will do parts of it again. Just not the whole dang thing!

After the walk, we dined at McDonald's in Wakefield and then I took Zach as promised to the big beach. I am home now and am going to make another latte and retire to my bedroom. It is only about 4:30 PM and I am ready for bed!

October 21, 2007

A beautiful Sunday morning. I am sitting here sipping my latte and blogging. Soon I have to go shave my legs. The kids and I are going to the "big" beach...what they call it. Instead of being a two minute walk, this one is about a 5 minute drive. Maybe less. They call it the big beach because there are no breakers there so the waves are huge. Our beach has these rock walls that go out quite a distance and the waves break against them instead of the beach...my only thought is that it prevents beach erosion. The big beach, otherwise known as Scarborough Beach, is more popular with the young adult-middle age crowd because of the surfing. Town Beach is my favorite, but very busy. They have cabanas families can rent for the season. The catch is that you have to actually live in Narragansett and pay taxes and you buy a pass for the summer that lets you go on the beach. Bonnet Shores is nice, too. More expensive, I think. The girls' friend Becca lives over there with her dad. He is a doctor. Then there is Fisherman's State Park beach. About a two minute drive from our house. Never been, except for seeing it from the other side, and another little beach down in the harborside of town. We hardly ever go down there. It is a working/fishing area and busy with lobster and fishing boats and the famous Block Island ferry. You can buy seafood right off the boats though, and save yourself some money. When I am down there, I feel very much like I am back home in Maine. It is like Camden/Rockport/Rockland...except not so touristy. The tourist side of town here is along Scarborough and Town Beaches, with big mansions along the way. Those mansions look like shacks once you get to Newport.

So this is the plan for today...the kids and I are going to go shopping and sightseeing in Newport. At 9 AM right now, it is still a bit chilly for the beach. Later around lunch time or after, we'll head back so Zach can play in the waves at the big beach. It should be in the 70s by that point. Maybe we'll get a chance to do the Cliff Walk while we're in Newport. Mitch won't be home until late tonight and I will go crazy if I just hang around here. So expect lots of pictures in the next few days.

October 19, 2007

Oh lucky day! The Irish cream Torani syrup that I ordered was delivered this morning! I ran out on Monday. Ordered it on Monday. Two bottles online for the price of one bought at Ampersand's. It is a lovely rainy morning here! It was so hot last night, I had to sleep with the doors open in my bedroom. It was a cacophony of sounds. Thunder, rain, waves, fog horn every 15 minutes. It was beautiful to listen to, however, it woke me up a couple of times in the night and I'd have a bit of trouble going back to sleep...so I am dragging butt a bit today. Sunday is supposed to be mid 70s and sunny so the kids and I plan to spend probably one of our last days at the beach. I keep saying that, but we keep getting the occasional beach day even though it is almost November.

I am making my latte right now. I love the cappuccino maker that Mitch bought me! Tastes just like Ampersand's and saves me $3.50 every day, which works out to be $1277.50 a year. By buying espresso ground coffee and two bottles of Irish cream syrup per month, I spend only about $240/year. Saving just over $1000, or $2.74 a day.

Mitch and I talked on the phone last night. It is nice to just be able to talk. When we're together we don't always do that...we cuddle, we watch tv, we play games, we run errands, we have sex...not always just talking and if anything good can come out of his having to be away so much during soccer season, it is that we get a chance to talk on the phone. Talk about our childhoods and funny stories about our days, how much we love each other and miss each other and want each other. I still like having him home, though.

I have a few loads of laundry to get caught up this weekend. The good news about having a rainy day is that I don't have to bother doing my hair when I get out of the shower! Just put it up wet and I am good to go.

Tonight the kids and I are on a mission to find a Chinese restaurant that they like. There are about 5 in town. So the process of elimination begins tonight. Ah well. Time for my shower.

Yahoo Messenger

For some reason, I can see who is online, send an IM, but never get one back...even though my friends are writing back to me, I can't see their response or even if they are typing. I can however, get the yahoo web messenger to work, so I guess I will be using that for awhile. I just want to apologize to anyone on my list that thinks I am ignoring them! Not the case!!!

Supper is cooked, eaten, dishes done. I am going to retire to my bedroom and get some reading done. Mitch made it to Charlotte. He will call after practice.

October 18, 2007

The leaves are starting to change for real now. Probably two weeks of the pretty color and then they'll all be on the ground. I have no super large maple in this backyard, so no major fall or spring yard clean up! Yay!!! Just fence and hedge.

I am so looking forward to the relaxing weekend. The last 3 weekends in a row have been absolutely crazy. The kids and I are going to go out for some chinese tomorrow night. We haven't gone out for chinese food since moving here mostly because Mitch and I aren't huge fans of it. The kids love it though, and since Mitch is gone this weekend, it makes sense that only one of us should have to suffer! Tonight we'll have pizza. Saturday night, the girls' friend Becca will be spending the night. She has spent the night the last two weekends. She fits right in. We'll make nachos and popcorn and rent some scary movies and then my baby will be home Sunday night.

I HAVE to remember to buy conditioner today. I forgot to do that yesterday.

Next weekend is the last weekend of October! WHAAAAA??? Craziness!

The next few weekends after this one will be equally crazy. Bachelor party. Rehearsal and wedding. Mitch has a soccer tourney and recruiting. Then I think we'll have one quiet weekend before Thanksgiving!

This Will Go Untitled

The meeting wasn't as bad as predicted. Having Mitch there gave me more confidence so that helped. I love him so much. After the meeting, he had to go back to work and I had to go to the post office, get Zachie, go to the bank, and get some groceries.

I kind of reinvented chicken noodle casserole tonight. This is what I did: I cut up 3 chicken breasts and put them in a skillet with some EVOO, some garlic salt, pepper, minced onion, and rosemary and browned it up. Then I added a can of sweet corn and put that mixture in the bottom of a glass casserole. I sprinkled that layer with some shredded cheddar. I boiled a pound of bow tie pasta, and added two cans of cream of chicken soup. I also added about a can of water because it was a little too thick. I layered the pasta generously on top of the chicken and topped it with crushed cheese crackers and shredded cheddar and baked at 400° until brown. Can't tell you how delish it looks. I made chocolate peanut butter squares for dessert and the kids and I are playing American Idol on the PS2. Love that game!!!

October 17, 2007

Another beautiful day in Narragansett.

I am watching The Munsters on tv. It used to be one of my favorite shows when I was a kid. I am reading Ahab's Wife. Good book. I should have a pretty relaxing weekend. No driving. No soccer games (they are away this weekend). Just whatever I want to do whenever I want to do it. The only way it would be more perfect is if Mitch didn't have to be away.

I just have to get through this cheesey meeting today at 2. I am not sure why this could not be handled over the phone. After that, I have to get Zach from school, go to the post office, bank and grocery store.

Sooooo

I heard back from three of the six jobs I applied for. I just sent them my resume last night, so I was pleased and surprised to get three emails today. All three are still accepting applications and by the end of the week, they will be calling people to set up interviews.

We had taco salad tonight for supper. Sugar cookies for dessert. Last night, Mitch cooked hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill. VERY YUMMY!!!

My love is gone this weekend. A game in Charlotte and a game in St. Louis. He will be home Sunday night. The girls and I have started a study group for them and their friends and our first meeting will be Saturday at the coffee shop they like so much. I'm on hand to help out with homework questions and offer my services as taxi driver, so no CT shopping spree for me this weekend.

I have meeting #9012 at the high school tomorrow...I am exaggerating a little but this is getting a bit ridiculous. Mitch is coming with me which I so appreciate. He will be the voice of reason if I get a little ticked off.

10/16/07

I've been thinking alot about the process of getting older: watching my grandparents, remembering my great-parents, witnessing my own aging process...at what age do you stop looking forward and spend your time looking back? Will I recognize that threshold? How long do you stay in this vast everything-goes-land where your last few available thoughts that aren't consumed with daily living are spent looking forward and back, spent comparing faces and hands with the generations around you, looking forward to seeing my children's children while missing my own childhood? All the while the clock ticks on in a cruel way...speeding up when you want time to wait and slowing down when you're in a hurry.

I suspect these are musings of someone who has had the luxury of getting by in this world without the worry and anxiety of growing up in a war-torn country. I am really done apologizing for that, though. My immigrant ancestors gave up EVERYTHING to make a better life for themselves and their future generations. Like it or lump it. I am very priviledged to have this luxury.

My job search continues. If God wants me back to work, then something will open up. I applied for 6 non-profit jobs yesterday, all involving at-risk youth and education. Today I need to get my materials gathered so I can apply for grad school. I know I can work AND go to school AND raise a family. My master's is really just this pesky little problem that is sitting between me and my doctorate. I investigated becoming a realtor yesterday. Way cheaper than I thought it would be. Very low start up costs. Plus I can pretty much work as much or as little as I like. I might as well put my ENFP status to good use.

The Profile of an ENFP
The Inspirer

As an ENFP, your primary mode of living is focused externally, where you take things in primarily via your intuition. Your secondary mode is internal, where you deal with things according to how you feel about them, or how they fit in with your personal value system.

ENFPs are warm, enthusiastic people, typically very bright and full of potential. They live in the world of possibilities, and can become very passionate and excited about things. Their enthusiasm lends them the ability to inspire and motivate others, more so than we see in other types. They can talk their way in or out of anything. They love life, seeing it as a special gift, and strive to make the most out of it.

ENFPs have an unusually broad range of skills and talents. They are good at most things which interest them. Project-oriented, they may go through several different careers during their lifetime. To onlookers, the ENFP may seem directionless and without purpose, but ENFPs are actually quite consistent, in that they have a strong sense of values which they live with throughout their lives. Everything that they do must be in line with their values. An ENFP needs to feel that they are living their lives as their true Self, walking in step with what they believe is right. They see meaning in everything, and are on a continuous quest to adapt their lives and values to achieve inner peace. They're constantly aware and somewhat fearful of losing touch with themselves. Since emotional excitement is usually an important part of the ENFP's life, and because they are focused on keeping "centered", the ENFP is usually an intense individual, with highly evolved values.

An ENFP needs to focus on following through with their projects. This can be a problem area for some of these individuals. Unlike other Extraverted types, ENFPs need time alone to center themselves, and make sure they are moving in a direction which is in sync with their values. ENFPs who remain centered will usually be quite successful at their endeavors. Others may fall into the habit of dropping a project when they become excited about a new possibility, and thus they never achieve the great accomplishments which they are capable of achieving.

Most ENFPs have great people skills. They are genuinely warm and interested in people, and place great importance on their inter-personal relationships. ENFPs almost always have a strong need to be liked. Sometimes, especially at a younger age, an ENFP will tend to be "gushy" and insincere, and generally "overdo" in an effort to win acceptance. However, once an ENFP has learned to balance their need to be true to themselves with their need for acceptance, they excel at bringing out the best in others, and are typically well-liked. They have an exceptional ability to intuitively understand a person after a very short period of time, and use their intuition and flexibility to relate to others on their own level.

Because ENFPs live in the world of exciting possibilities, the details of everyday life are seen as trivial drudgery. They place no importance on detailed, maintenance-type tasks, and will frequently remain oblivous to these types of concerns. When they do have to perform these tasks, they do not enjoy themselves. This is a challenging area of life for most ENFPs, and can be frustrating for ENFP's family members.

An ENFP who has "gone wrong" may be quite manipulative - and very good it. The gift of gab which they are blessed with makes it naturally easy for them to get what they want. Most ENFPs will not abuse their abilities, because that would not jive with their value systems.

ENFPs sometimes make serious errors in judgment. They have an amazing ability to intuitively perceive the truth about a person or situation, but when they apply judgment to their perception, they may jump to the wrong conclusions.

ENFPs who have not learned to follow through may have a difficult time remaining happy in marital relationships. Always seeing the possibilities of what could be, they may become bored with what actually is. The strong sense of values will keep many ENFPs dedicated to their relationships. However, ENFPs like a little excitement in their lives, and are best matched with individuals who are comfortable with change and new experiences.

Having an ENFP parent can be a fun-filled experience, but may be stressful at times for children with strong Sensing or Judging tendancies. Such children may see the ENFP parent as inconsistent and difficult to understand, as the children are pulled along in the whirlwind life of the ENFP. Sometimes the ENFP will want to be their child's best friend, and at other times they will play the parental authoritarian. But ENFPs are always consistent in their value systems, which they will impress on their children above all else, along with a basic joy of living.

ENFPs are basically happy people. They may become unhappy when they are confined to strict schedules or mundane tasks. Consequently, ENFPs work best in situations where they have a lot of flexibility, and where they can work with people and ideas. Many go into business for themselves. They have the ability to be quite productive with little supervision, as long as they are excited about what they're doing.

Because they are so alert and sensitive, constantly scanning their environments, ENFPs often suffer from muscle tension. They have a strong need to be independent, and resist being controlled or labelled. They need to maintain control over themselves, but they do not believe in controlling others. Their dislike of dependence and suppression extends to others as well as to themselves.

ENFPs are charming, ingenuous, risk-taking, sensitive, people-oriented individuals with capabilities ranging across a broad spectrum. They have many gifts which they will use to fulfill themselves and those near them, if they are able to remain centered and master the ability of following through.

October 12, 2007

Another ridiculously busy weekend if I want it to be. Just thinking about it all gives me a headache. I am going to focus my thoughts on Thanksgiving. Mitch and I will be spending it in New York City...then he has some recruiting to do in New Jersey.

I have to get my nails done today.

Sick

I am not doing well. I have been fighting off something. I have a low grade fever and swollen glands in the back of my neck and a headache. I am feeling better today than yesterday, but still not quite right. Mitch got back from Richmond late last night and has spent today taking care of me. He is so wonderful.

On a brighter note, I am waiting to hear back from a non-profit organization that I might be working with. They are a homeless transitonal housing program out of Providence. A lot like the job I just left, but in a larger city setting. I am a little nervous. Narragansett is a very wealthy white town and Providence is not, and I don't want the fact that I live in Narragansett be a determinate in my getting a position there. Meaning, one might ask what I could possibly know about the homeless population and substance abuse and mental illness issues...

Anyway, I need to do something and get myself back out there. I appreciate so much this little month off to regroup and get the kids settled into their new lives. They haven't had me at home since Zach was 5. So 8 years.

Well, I am in the middle of getting supper ready and I need to go hop in the shower. Today was a holiday off from school for the kiddos and we spent a very very very lazy day at home!!!

9/28/07

As excited as I am to be returning to Maine for a brief visit, I just checked out the weather...we are leaving 70 and 80 degree weather to go to a low 60 degrees. Booooo!

Well, I have to go pack. We are leaving here around 11. I have to go to the post office and bank and gas station before heading out.

September 26, 2007

I am in a much better mood this afternoon. Took Mitch most of the morning to get me here! My sister called a little while ago too, so that helped. I pretty much just needed to talk over why I was feeling so stressed about this weekend. It is just a little of everything. I'm not used to leaving Sierra behind, and I've never left her with Mitch...I know she will be fine. I am adjusting to her being "our" dog. Okay, not really, but it makes me smile everytime Mitch says it, and I love how much they love each other.

Tonight is the open house at the middle school. Mitch said he'll be home before we have to leave for that, so he can go with us.

Right now I am watching Stakeout. I love that movie. It has been a movie morning, with a little Pick-up Artist, Pretty in Pink, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High and now Stakeout. I love Rosie in the zebra jog suit, taking her Rottie, Archie for a walk...or should I say, Archie taking her for a walk, and then chasing after the bunny.

Into the Wild is a good book. A true story account of Chris McCandless. I wish he were still alive because we'd have a lot to talk about. As much as I tend to look like I blend in, I certainly pick friends that do not. We also share a lot of the same views on issues of homelessness and on the over-stimulation of the world around us, and also have similar tastes in literature. He would have been a true pioneer in the non-profit world. I am also fascinated about how one tends to find God and spirituality when there is nothing left but oneself and nature, and the true serenity that follows. I've even often thought that once this level of high consciousness is achieved, there is nothing left but death, that on some level, the body, or its will to live, is no longer the driving force in one's existence.

I have always been too chicken to be alone like that...not sure why. I'm not sure I'd be scared of any physical danger. He traveled with a gun, which I am sure I would do in the Alaskan wild. I think I'd be truly scared of being alone with myself like that. More so about the fact of not knowing for how long. That uncertainty would be scariest of all because I can do anything for a specific length of time. Anyway, I am certainly envious of the adventurousness of this soul.

Read the book.

Still Blah

It is a hot mid-80 degree day today in good old South Rhode Island. Still waiting for Autumn. Going to take the dog for a walk on the beach tonight. Give her a little break from the heat. We had some yummy homemade meatball subs tonight, some broccoli and cheese for a vegetable and some very yummy hummus that I made myself. It is all gone. The kids ate all of it when they got home from school. They even said it was better tasting than the brand we buy at the store. It is so expensive here and we love it so much, that I made up a little recipe that I can use the Bullet with. Some garbanzo beans, a little splash of lime juice, some garlic salt, minced onions, a little Italian seasoning, and sesame tahini, combine with some liquid beef bouillon and perfection!!! For dessert, after our walk on the beach, we'll have some cinnamon rolls.

My mood is still blah. This weekend is going to be overwhelmingly busy for me and I am not really looking forward to it. I am not looking forward to the extra company on Sunday. I love Mitch's parents and I am excited for them to see the house, but his kids will be here and Allison is coming back here with me to spend the week, which I am very excited about, too, but there will just be lots of people in the house on Sunday, until everyone leaves for the Maine game.

My kids do not have school on Friday, so we're heading out early for Maine.

9/25/07

In a blah mood today. Not really in the mood to write...maybe I will blog later. I am reading a good book, though...called Into the Wild.

9/24/07

I really hate making a bowl of cereal, thinking I have milk to complete the process, only to discover that we're out of milk. We had milk last night. Not sure what happens in the middle of the night. All three of the kids must have had cereal before school. We are now going thru 3-4 gallons a week.

Mitch and I had a nice relaxing weekend. Our first, I think, since we've moved here. They had a game Friday night, but had Saturday and Sunday off. We went shopping in Newport on Saturday and spent the day together. When we got home. we made some pizza and played American Idol with the kids.

I am not glad to be facing another busy week and weekend.

Allison is coming back with me next weekend. I can't wait to have her here. We'll go shopping in Newport Beach, in the mall in Warwick and the mall in Providence, hopefully get back to Mystic, CT, since we haven't been there together since 2002, and get to the Maine vs. URI soccer game, and we'll check out the Johnson & Wales campus for her.

Right now, I am blogging, watching some 7th Heaven and listening to Sierra snore and the hum of the dishwasher. I have to do some laundry today.

I can't believe how quickly the weeks are flying by. Fall tends to go fast for me anyway. September and October breeze by, Thanksgiving is 3 weeks after Halloween, Christmas just a few weeks after that. Next thing you know, it is January.

9/18/07

Today is my father's birthday. I hope he has a nice one wherever he is. It has been 7 years since I've last seen him. 5 since I've talked to him on the phone. I don't want to get sad today so that is all I will say about that!

Mitch and I got to spend the day together and tomorrow will be the same! Definitely makes up for the last few busy weeks. Our neighbor next door has a splendid little garden and she gave me some Japenese eggplant. I thinly sliced one of them and baked them with some butter, salt, pepper and minced onion...totally delish!!! The girls and I loved them! We ate them all before Zach and Mitch got home, which is fine because I don't think either one of them would have liked them much! We also had some stuffing, shake and bake chicken and corn. Just a regular "home-cooked" meal, without being too homecooked! I was busy yesterday, so it turned into the perfect quick meal. Tonight is pizza and fries. I also baked some chocolate chip cookies. All this being at home has allowed me to do little things like that for Mitch and the kids, that I haven't had a lot of time to do in the past because of work and work and work. Cooking makes me lose my appetite. My size 6's are getting rather roomy. I am certainly not trying to lose weight. I also think the stress of the move has helped perpetuate the weight loss. Zach picked me up last night, like he likes to do, to carry me around, and was like, "Mom, I think you're lost weight."

Mitch and I also get to spend most of the weekend together. That will make up for the weekend after next. Friday night, my kids and I are headed to Maine for the night. The girls will be with their dad, Zach will be at Dakota's and I will be at Allison's. The next day is my brother Adam's wedding reception and then we'll be on the road hopefully by 3 and home by 8 PM. Sunday is the Maine game and I can't wait. Plus Allison is coming back with me and spending the whole week! That will be awesome. It will be busy that Sunday. Mitch's parents will be here for the game, and then they are taking his kids back for us so we don't have to drive all that way.

Zach had fun at soccer practice last night with Mitch and John. He got some new Adidas soccer shorts and looks adorable.

Other than that, I am waiting for the pizza to get done and watching The OC. Sierra is sleeping on the couch and Hayley is doing her homework. Oh yeah, and Mitch bought me a new cappuccino maker because mine broke during the move. I used it for the first time tonight.

Current Mood: smiley
Current Music: whatever is on The OC

9/17/07

A very busy weekend. The URI vs. Brown game was a bit heated. Kind of fun when you're just in the audience, but when your loverboy is the one of the people involved it isn't so much fun.

Mitch's brother Ryan was here this weekend. It was fun. We all went to the beach Saturday night because it was still warm out and the sunset was gorgeous. We came back and had the birthday cake that Hayley and Millie made for Ryan's birthday. We all played some American Idol after. It was pretty much a perfect weekend.

Friday night, the girls and I went down to the boardwalk at the town beach for the end of summer festival, which included a carnival. That was fun.

Now I have to take a relaxing hot shower and clean the house and pick the kids up at 2. Mitch will come back to get Zach and they'll both go back to soccer practice.

9/14/07

I am not sure what the kids and I are going to do when they get home from school. Maybe a movie, maybe the beach, or maybe some mall shopping in Warwick.

I spent some quality time with Sierra this morning. She is now napping on the loveseat next to me. A happy sweet baby.

I had some nightmares last night, one of which was Sierra getting hit by a car. It has ruined my morning, that is for sure. Another one, I was being chased by someone. I woke up yelling leave me alove. I hardly ever talk or yell or scream because of a dream. Anyway, I am glad I am awake now, with Sierra sleeping by my side.

Another exciting day in the neighborhood. Not really! Kind of boring here today. The kids have tomorrow off from school for Rosh Hashanah. Another good thing about not living in a mostly Catholic state, like Maine is, is that the kids get both Christian and Jewish holidays off from school! We'll spend tomorrow at the beach. We will go over today when they get home from school, too. There won't be many more beach days, so we'll have to enjoy them while they last. They only have one full week of school in the whole month of September, which is next week. Last week, they only had three days. This week, 4. Next week, a full week, and the week after...4 days. And they didn't even start until the 5th! The girls have a dance Friday night. I don't know if they are going to want to go or not.

Today I am going to lay in the sun and take a shower, pick up the kids from school and then head to the beach. Life is so hard right at this moment! :) I will try to take some more pics today.

I think we will have chicken and dumplings tonight for supper. The lasagna was good last night. I used Italian sausage instead of hamburger. The girls loved it and Mitch took some to work with him today, so I guess it must be edible if he'll pass up commons food for my cooking.

I have cable in my room now! Mitch hooked up our tv in our room. There was no cable upstairs, so we had to have it installed. Not that we really need cable or even tv in our room. We are usually busy or sleeping when we are up there. But it will keep me company when he is out of town.

9/11/07

It has been a busy day so far and it is only 1 PM! Zach isn't feeling well. Headache and nausea. Mitch and I both had something like that last week. He is in his room napping right now, with Sierra sleeping next to him keeping a close watch on her patient.

I got my nails done! I love the nail salon. They were very nice there and my nails were done perfectly, just like I like them! And they were even cheaper than where I used to get them done in Maine, so that is always a good thing!!!

I have to get the girls at 2 from school and go to the Post Office, then I have to run to the grocery store to figure out something for supper. I'm in the mood for some lasagna tonight. I think Mitch and the kids will be fine with that. Either that or Mitch can make pizza tonight and I'll make lasagna tomorrow night.

Yesterday and today were great days here. I am feeling much more settled and relaxed. Mitch is much relieved that my smile is back!

It is good to have my blog all up to date again and now I have to start back to work on my novel. Or at least some short fiction, to keep my writing flowing.

Have a great day everyone and don't forget to keep the families directly affected by 9/11 in your prayers today.

1500 Post!!!

Not bad, seeing as how I haven't been able to blog like I usually do!

Zach won't find out until the roster is posted tomorrow at lunch time if he made the soccer team or not. He's confident but a bit cautious because he is the new kid at school. He's made so many new friends already, though, so he'll be fine even if he doesn't make the team.

Mitch has to work on the router some more when he gets home. We're having "issues" with it and he couldn't get it working right yet. I bought him a nice card at the Hallmark store today, reminding him how much I love him. I have it on his pillow tonight.

We had a fantastic day together today. We went shopping and had lunch at Wendy's and picked up the kids at school and went to the bank to add me on to the account. We went to the post office and had some fabulous make out sessions.

Not sure what we're having for supper tonight. I'm not in the mood to really cook anything. We ate out last night. Not in the mood for that either. I hate being bored with food! I'm just not really craving anything lately. I think I want something, I get it or make it and then it isn't really what I wanted after all.

Two A Day!

It is a two-a-day blog Sunday! Yay!!! I haven't had one of those in a LOOOOOOONG time! Mitch and I get to spend the day together tomorrow! I am so excited. It is much needed. He has been super busy with pre-season and now the first few games. Yes, I get to see him every night and wake up to him every morning, but it isn't like when he'd come to Maine for 3 or 4 days and we'd be together the whole time. Obviously, I know we can't be together all the time, and I wouldn't want that, but it has been a long three weeks, with him being so busy.

The kids and I had supper at Pizza Hut tonight. We played some DDR after and then Zachie went outside to practice his soccer skillz! Tomorrow is the last day of try-outs. I am hopeful I will be able to put my pics up tomorrow. They are at least loaded onto my computer, ready to go.

Tomorrow Mitch and I have to add me to his/our checking account. He had to get it before I got down here and we've been so busy that neither of us have had the time to make it in to sign the paper work during business hours. We've just been depositing my checks in the account but currently we only have one Debit card...kinda need two when he is outta town, like this weekend. So tomorrow, we have to drop the kids off at school, bank, post office, Best Buy and then some much needed and wanted cuddle time before the kids get home from school.

On Tuesday I desperately need my nails filled. They are driving me crazy. The kids have Thursday off from school, so that will be cool. I think we'll spend the day at the beach.

Well, I have to go take a bath and shave my legs.

September 9, 2007

The kids and I had a great time shopping in CT. They are all set for school now and I even bought a few things for me, including a new charger for my ibook. I think we're going to finish things around here at the house, like laundry and homework, and then we'll head to the beach for the afternoon. Mitch will be home sometime tonight.

Karen called yesterday while we were shopping. She sent big hugs from my Bailey-boo. I miss my sweet girl so much!!!

Shopping!

I have to get ready for my busy day, but I thought I'd blog because it is exciting to be able to do that again! I do think I needed a little break from all of the technology. I was finishing books in a day again, like I used to, instead of wasting the afternoon blogging or on Myspace.

The kids and I are going to my sister's in Connecticut today. She is about an hour from here. We're going to hit up the malls in her area. I am hopefully going to buy a new charger today for my computer.

Today would be a perfect beach day. About 84 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, the kids are dying to go shopping.

News from Rhode Island

Hi everyone! I had big plans about what I'd write about when I finally had internet again...and I really don't know what to say! I'm not blogging on my laptop. I'm using Mitch's until I get a new charger/power cord for mine this weekend, so it feels weird. His keys aren't as comfortable under my fingers as mine, not to mention I haven't blogged in almost a month! I have a ton of beautiful pics. I want to load them onto my computer, though, so hopefully I'll get to that this weekend.

We are a two minute walk to the beach. The kids and I love that. We were there every day last week. They started school on Wednesday. They love their new schools and their new friends, even while missing their old ones. Zach tries out for soccer tonight. He is excited! He had a great time going to the URI soccer game last Friday. He loved going out on the field after to see Mitch and John and the team.

Mitch is gone until Sunday. They were going to South Bend and playing there tonight and they have another game on Sunday before flying home. I am taking the kids to my sister's in CT tomorrow. We're going to spend the day shopping and hanging out with Gracie.

We love the house. The kids love their rooms and Sierra has adjusted very well. Not one accident in the house. I have heard stories about dogs who struggle with the stress of moving and a new environment. She wasn't crazy about the 5 hour drive here, but she loves being with the kids and having me home all day! Our neighbors are very friendly. They've all met and all enjoy Sierra's crazy antics.

I can't wait for everyone to see the pics. I was a bit stressed last week. Getting the kids registered for school, waiting for records, birth certificates, physicals, etc...I guess it wasn't so unusual to be stressed. Still, I've had a quiet few years the last few years, with minimal stress, except for relationship stuff with Brian, so I felt like I wasn't handling the move well. But this week, now that the kids are very comfortable with their schools and we've found the BEST pediatrician ever for Zachary, and the fact that I am no longer in fear of getting lost, I am certainly enjoying this new adventure a lot more. The weather has been insanely gorgeous. Not a drop of rain since we got here. That looks like it will change on Sunday! We're in for a few showers.

I've been a bit under the weather the last few days. Upset stomach and a horrible headache...I'm thinking sinuses. The nausea comes and goes, but this headache is relentless! 1000 mg of Tylenol is barely taking the edge off and of course, I am allergic to ibuprofen. I finally got 8 hours of sleep in without any wake-ups in the middle of the night! One would think falling asleep to the sound of the ocean's waves every night would be relaxing, but surprisingly, one needs to get used to it.

All in all, the move was a success. I am so glad we went for it.
