August 15, 2007

I have the worst headache today. Mostly from stress and lack of sleep and a possibility of dehydration. I can hear Brian now telling me that I haven't had enough water to drink. Sooo I just popped some pills, drank some water and am brewing a small pot of coffee. Eric, I may be making your hotel lobby my office very soon. I need some contact with my friends and some wireless internet. I have been so busy with getting stuff boxed and packed and divided between storage and what we're taking. Next weekend, I'll be unpacking. Even more fun! Allison is spending the night Friday night and we'll get things ready for our yard sale on Saturday. I am thinking heavy amounts of alcohol may be involved. 'Cause if we drink it, I won't have to pack it!

Shannon and Andrew's friend Adam is meeting me at my house tonight. He wants to buy the washer and dryer. I hope the deal goes thru and he loads both on his truck tonight. If it is a quick transaction, I might actually have time to go get my nails done after. I am in desperate need of a trim and fill. I haven't broken one nail yet during this move! My back, a skull fracture and Hayley sprained her ankle, but my nails are as strong as ever!

My parents are indeed taking the kids to Rhode Island for us and even bringing the truck, so I no longer have to worry about how everything is going to fit. This way they can see the house and see where the kids will be going to school. During summer, there is about a 20,000 population in town...during the school year, maybe 10,000...according to our mail lady. She gave us a much coveted "antique" PO mailbox because she is excited about us moving into town. The town is about the population size of Orono, excluding UMaine students. I have a very good feeling about the move and about the town. There are also some non-profit agencies I am interested in checking out.

August 14, 2007

My last week of work! :( I am a bit sad. I am a lot sad! I've been with most of these kids for the last two years, some for three. I said my goodbyes to my VISTA friends last Wednesday. I am looking forward to the move. Not this weekend but next. I have one more small trip to the storage unit, one yard sale this weekend, one trip to the dump and then all that will be left will be what Mitch and I are packing in my truck and in his trailer. I am going to see if my parents will drive the kids down in their car, that way we'll have the inside of both of our vehicles for stuff, too.

We had a great weekend hanging out with Mitch's friend Jerry and his girlfriend. We had a nice dinner on the grill Saturday night and had some wine. One of the 6 bathrooms in the house has a jacuzzi, so Mitch and I had the opportunity to do some MAJOR relaxing. Sunday we all went to the movies and saw the newest Harry Potter, while having dinner at the theater. That was fun. They have tables and recliners and bring your dinner to you. I also had the opportunity to catch up on some of my favorite shows on cable. I had that shut off and Mitch is having it turned on in our new house this week. He is also getting our PO Box today.

Zachie will be home very soon. I miss my baby boy so much. He will have a ball surfing. I can't wait to get pictures of it.

I will try to blog on Thursday. After that, it might be a week before I catch everyone up and have new pics to show off the new house.

A Day in August

I'm not really sure what day it is, other than it is a Monday and it is August and Wednesday is the 8th...so I guess that makes this the 6th. I will be in Waterville/Augusta on the 8th. My last official day of government duty, even though my last day at work is the 17th. Zachie will be back in Maine on the 17th and then we're moving to Rhode Island that next weekend/week. I'm not sure what day we'll officially leave on, with no return for a few weeks. Mitch's mom will still be in Maine at their summer home, and she said anything we forget or any loose ends I need to tie up, she'll take care of. A huge relief for me! I am pretty sure we'll have everything set to go, but I am a bit worried that I will forget to do something that turns out to be important and we'll already be down there.

I already got the storage unit and made 4 trips over. I plan on doing a run or two tonight and some Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday...Friday I will be in New Hampshire for the weekend and will be leaving after work.

This weekend, we went with Mitch's parents to the Rockland Lobster Festival. It was soooo much fun! We had a blast. It was just the four of us, which was nice...kind of an adult day out. We had dinner in Ellsworth and hung out at his parent's for about an hour or so before we headed back home.

Yesterday, we ran errands and I sold the cap for my truck. We got some pizza and ice-cream from Spencer's and then we went to the Ornamental Gardens on Campus. It is so pretty and quiet and peaceful in there. We played with some frogs and watched some older polywogs play. We saw a little bunny.

I took the girls to the fair on Thursday. It was okay. Last year's was a bit better and was $15 cheaper. Rockland's carnival rides were much better and cheaper for a wristband, but my back has been sore since Thursday and as much as I wanted to go on the better rides, sanity prevailed!

The weather was beautiful yesterday. It was perfect Maine weather and a relief after the hot, humid 90s we've had the past two weeks. It even got a bit chilly last night while sleeping, but it was excellent sleeping weather. There is a nice breeze today and it is warm and sunny. I think we might get an isolated shower tonight.

We had crazy thunderstorms Friday night. A tree at his parent's house got hit by lightning and the top came down and the rest split. It wasn't too near the house or the cars, so that was a good thing.

I have two more hours here at the center, then lunch and then work at the office for a bit. I have to pick up Sierra's Frontline and pick up Hayley in Brewer. Sierra goes outside without her leash now, as long as we're with her(we still live on a busy road for a few more weeks). I didn't doubt she'd stay with me, but I just love her too much to risk her heading out into the road after an errant squirrel or something. She was outside with me. Mitch was washing my truck and the neighbor's cat headed right over to her...I was like, Oh Crap! Here we go!!! She looked at the cat and headed over but I said her name and she stopped and stayed and never left my side. Part of this is due to her healthy respect of the feline species because of my cat Chloe, who is very mean to Sierra and whom Sierra is scared to death of. This was a boy cat and he wasn't scared of Sierra of all. They played together for awhile and Sierra ended up playing in the backyard for most of the afternoon off leash. She is going to LOVE Narragansett! We're on a quiet street. She has a nice back yard and the beach will be deserted soon when the tourists go home and that will be her playground. Unfortunately, the couple that live behind us have yellow labs that they raise and breed and Mitch and I are doubtful that between his kids and mine, we will be able to leave the neighborhood without ending up with a new puppy.
