6/28/12

So I have a pretty great husband, as you can read for yourself, down one post. Still 90 outside at 8 pm. It is quite nice. I just came in from chasing Bella and Sierra in the backyard wearing my sleep shirt. If our backyard wasn't so secluded, it would be quite scandalous! Now, I'm relaxing in bed, listening to some Pandora and I'm gonna read a bit, before watching a movie and falling off to sleep. Tomorrow will be a fun day! I'm going to tan, and go to the movies at noon and see Rock of Ages and then hopefully, go again sometime this weekend to see Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, so I'm excited for the movie! And my husband will finally be home after a long week away. I've missed him, even if I enjoyed having the bed all to myself!

A little poem for Daisy...

Missing that smile and beautiful blue eyes,
can't wait to get home and kiss my prize.
My everything, my world, my perfect one,
cant wait to get home and have some fun.
The beautiful one that always makes my day,
can't wait to get home and home to stay.

I love you my darling angel!

Gosh, is it really only Wednesday? Longest week ever! I'm super excited for the 4th in Boston next week. Scott and Kyle will be joining us this year. Second year for Scott and first for Kyle. This will be Bella's 3rd 4th of July in Boston! I love that she's exposed to these types of events. We just counted the money in her Disney trip bank and she has $48 in change. Pretty cool for a two year old! This is actually a huge accomplishment on our part because really who has change anymore??? Our cards get used for dang near everything. I'm pretty darn tired today and am going to sleep well tonight! Tomorrow will probably be spent at the beach for a few hours. I'm writing up a master list for Boston. We pretty much have it down to a science, but I need to pick up some playing cards, UNO, SkipBo, Phase 10, and some surprise things to keep Bella entertained. My Kindle is loaded.

6/26/12

I feel as if I haven't really blogged or updated in awhile, even though I do post pictures weekly. Let's see, Zach has graduated high school and has moved to Virginia. I was very sad, but have adjusted rather quickly. I'm very much looking forward to redoing his bedroom for Bella! Kayla has signed up for her fall classes and she's still working full-time. Hayley is between school and work, but continues to be a huge help to me and my emotional well-being. She and I both took care of business at the DMV today. My work schedule seems to have settled for the past month or so, but I was foolish to think it'd last...and Kayla's work schedule is changing after the 4th. It certainly is never dull, that's for sure. My 9 year old niece Princess Gabs-A-Lot (Gabrielle) got a cell phone and has been texting me ALL morning! Oh my goodness. Her favorite Uncle Mitch will be sharing the load once I give her his number! For two seconds, I thought, isn't she too young? But then I thought, why am I saying that? My brother upgraded, and it's putting his old phone to use, he can well afford the extra $10 per month for the additional line, and in this day and age, it provides extra security, it's encouraging writing and reading, AND technology IS NOT the downfall of our youth. Plus, she keeps me busy with her texts when I'm laying in the sun. And trust me when I say, texts are preferable to phone convos any day, as she comes by her name quite rightly. In other news, I finished Bel Canto. I'm currently reading The Fountainhead, Pride and Prejudice, Girl Gone, and book 4 in the Game of Thrones series. Yes, I like to read a lot of books at the same time. I needed a break from book 4, so I finished Bel Canto, but I wasn't ready to resume book 4, so I picked up P & P and am loving it. I will probably finish it this week. I'm also very much enjoying The Fountainhead. It's feeling very Catcher in the Rye-ish. Bella is cutting the very last of her teeth. Right on schedule. Causing a little rash and some crankiness, but this is it! No more drama till the teeth get wiggly in about 2 1/2 years! We have to get her into the dentist though because she has a little spot on her front tooth that's been there since she had that really high fever from her uti. Not sure if it was from the antibiotics, the fever, or her allegic reaction to the antibiotics, and from what I've read, it can also be from too much floride as easily as not enough floride. Her mother doesn't have cavities but did have very soft teeth and they stained very easily, and I think Bella inherited some of that. The rest of her teeth are great, just that one little spot. Besides, 2 is a good age to start seeing the dentist and she has insurance, so she might as well use it!

6/21/12

Bella is 2 years AND 2 months old today...more and more of her gibberish is starting to make sense...that does not necessarily mean she's improving upon her skills...it could mean we are all regressing. She is quite fearless. In fact, that is usually the first comment about her from strangers at the park, beach, cliff walk, etc. She is also quite friendly. I don't believe she gets that from me. She hugs any dog and kid and calls kids her size "babies", much to their dismay if they happen to be older than her. She still has quite the eclectic palate. No chicken nuggets for her, thanks. She races to the bathroom to get her stool and supplies when it's time to brush her teeth, yet screams and cries through the actual teeth brushing process. She calls most adults, male or female, Princess, which I think is hilarious. She moves non-stop, except when reading or being read to, and when she has a need that has yet been met, she announces to any available ear that she "needs a Mama". She doesn't really care if you're her Mama or not, or even if you are a Mama, she just needs help dammit! She also loves to say No, to everything, in a really nasty way, when she's cranky. She loves to swim. In the pool. In the tub. In the ocean. The beach however, has been pretty overwhelming with the arrival of summer people...she plays well by herself and will run back and forth from the blanket to the water independently, but once it starts getting crowded, there's too many people to visit, dogs to hug, toys to snag...which brings me to my pet peeve of the week...of the many hundreds of people on the beach, I'd say almost 90 percent of us have a freaking dog and to those 2 percent of that 90 that bring their annoying dog to the beach, we don't like you. We don't like your dog. We don't think it's cute. Go have a kid.

6/5/12

The weekend was nice. Super nice. We spent the whole day Saturday in bed watching movies. It was non-stop rain so neither of us had much desire to do anything else. Sunday was sunny, so we spent most of that day outside. The rest of the week is flying by. Typical of summer, I guess. I started reading book 4 of Game of Thrones. I'm also reading Ann Patchett's Bel Canto. And still reading The Fountainhead. Speaking of books...I feel really bad for the woman who finds 50 Shades of Grey exciting. Is her sex life that incredibly boring? I'm not sure the reason this book has received as much press as it has, but I'm guessing I should write my own book!

6/1/12

It has cooled down nicely around here. Gorgeous sun and 85 degrees yesterday, but that gets quite warm when you're trying to lay in the sun. Only supposed to be around 72 today. Perfect for sunbathing. This week went by incredibly fast. I've been up since 6! While I wish I was still sleeping, the quiet is nice with a certain 2 year old still sleeping. I caught up on my favorite blogs (boring lately...might be time to switch them out) and I'm getting ready to put some coffee on. I hear a whiney princess waking up.
