9/28/07

As excited as I am to be returning to Maine for a brief visit, I just checked out the weather...we are leaving 70 and 80 degree weather to go to a low 60 degrees. Booooo!

Well, I have to go pack. We are leaving here around 11. I have to go to the post office and bank and gas station before heading out.

I am kinda addicted to Cold Case. I got Mitch addicted to Dancing with the Stars! Ha ha...that makes me laugh.

September 26, 2007

I am in a much better mood this afternoon. Took Mitch most of the morning to get me here! My sister called a little while ago too, so that helped. I pretty much just needed to talk over why I was feeling so stressed about this weekend. It is just a little of everything. I'm not used to leaving Sierra behind, and I've never left her with Mitch...I know she will be fine. I am adjusting to her being "our" dog. Okay, not really, but it makes me smile everytime Mitch says it, and I love how much they love each other.

Tonight is the open house at the middle school. Mitch said he'll be home before we have to leave for that, so he can go with us.

Right now I am watching Stakeout. I love that movie. It has been a movie morning, with a little Pick-up Artist, Pretty in Pink, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High and now Stakeout. I love Rosie in the zebra jog suit, taking her Rottie, Archie for a walk...or should I say, Archie taking her for a walk, and then chasing after the bunny.

Into the Wild is a good book. A true story account of Chris McCandless. I wish he were still alive because we'd have a lot to talk about. As much as I tend to look like I blend in, I certainly pick friends that do not. We also share a lot of the same views on issues of homelessness and on the over-stimulation of the world around us, and also have similar tastes in literature. He would have been a true pioneer in the non-profit world. I am also fascinated about how one tends to find God and spirituality when there is nothing left but oneself and nature, and the true serenity that follows. I've even often thought that once this level of high consciousness is achieved, there is nothing left but death, that on some level, the body, or its will to live, is no longer the driving force in one's existence.

I have always been too chicken to be alone like that...not sure why. I'm not sure I'd be scared of any physical danger. He traveled with a gun, which I am sure I would do in the Alaskan wild. I think I'd be truly scared of being alone with myself like that. More so about the fact of not knowing for how long. That uncertainty would be scariest of all because I can do anything for a specific length of time. Anyway, I am certainly envious of the adventurousness of this soul.

Read the book.

Still Blah

It is a hot mid-80 degree day today in good old South Rhode Island. Still waiting for Autumn. Going to take the dog for a walk on the beach tonight. Give her a little break from the heat. We had some yummy homemade meatball subs tonight, some broccoli and cheese for a vegetable and some very yummy hummus that I made myself. It is all gone. The kids ate all of it when they got home from school. They even said it was better tasting than the brand we buy at the store. It is so expensive here and we love it so much, that I made up a little recipe that I can use the Bullet with. Some garbanzo beans, a little splash of lime juice, some garlic salt, minced onions, a little Italian seasoning, and sesame tahini, combine with some liquid beef bouillon and perfection!!! For dessert, after our walk on the beach, we'll have some cinnamon rolls.

My mood is still blah. This weekend is going to be overwhelmingly busy for me and I am not really looking forward to it. I am not looking forward to the extra company on Sunday. I love Mitch's parents and I am excited for them to see the house, but his kids will be here and Allison is coming back here with me to spend the week, which I am very excited about, too, but there will just be lots of people in the house on Sunday, until everyone leaves for the Maine game.

My kids do not have school on Friday, so we're heading out early for Maine.

9/25/07

In a blah mood today. Not really in the mood to write...maybe I will blog later. I am reading a good book, though...called Into the Wild.

9/24/07

I really hate making a bowl of cereal, thinking I have milk to complete the process, only to discover that we're out of milk. We had milk last night. Not sure what happens in the middle of the night. All three of the kids must have had cereal before school. We are now going thru 3-4 gallons a week.

Mitch and I had a nice relaxing weekend. Our first, I think, since we've moved here. They had a game Friday night, but had Saturday and Sunday off. We went shopping in Newport on Saturday and spent the day together. When we got home. we made some pizza and played American Idol with the kids.

I am not glad to be facing another busy week and weekend.

Allison is coming back with me next weekend. I can't wait to have her here. We'll go shopping in Newport Beach, in the mall in Warwick and the mall in Providence, hopefully get back to Mystic, CT, since we haven't been there together since 2002, and get to the Maine vs. URI soccer game, and we'll check out the Johnson & Wales campus for her.

Right now, I am blogging, watching some 7th Heaven and listening to Sierra snore and the hum of the dishwasher. I have to do some laundry today.

9/19/07

I can't believe how quickly the weeks are flying by. Fall tends to go fast for me anyway. September and October breeze by, Thanksgiving is 3 weeks after Halloween, Christmas just a few weeks after that. Next thing you know, it is January.

9/18/07

Today is my father's birthday. I hope he has a nice one wherever he is. It has been 7 years since I've last seen him. 5 since I've talked to him on the phone. I don't want to get sad today so that is all I will say about that!

Mitch and I got to spend the day together and tomorrow will be the same! Definitely makes up for the last few busy weeks. Our neighbor next door has a splendid little garden and she gave me some Japenese eggplant. I thinly sliced one of them and baked them with some butter, salt, pepper and minced onion...totally delish!!! The girls and I loved them! We ate them all before Zach and Mitch got home, which is fine because I don't think either one of them would have liked them much! We also had some stuffing, shake and bake chicken and corn. Just a regular "home-cooked" meal, without being too homecooked! I was busy yesterday, so it turned into the perfect quick meal. Tonight is pizza and fries. I also baked some chocolate chip cookies. All this being at home has allowed me to do little things like that for Mitch and the kids, that I haven't had a lot of time to do in the past because of work and work and work. Cooking makes me lose my appetite. My size 6's are getting rather roomy. I am certainly not trying to lose weight. I also think the stress of the move has helped perpetuate the weight loss. Zach picked me up last night, like he likes to do, to carry me around, and was like, "Mom, I think you're lost weight."

Mitch and I also get to spend most of the weekend together. That will make up for the weekend after next. Friday night, my kids and I are headed to Maine for the night. The girls will be with their dad, Zach will be at Dakota's and I will be at Allison's. The next day is my brother Adam's wedding reception and then we'll be on the road hopefully by 3 and home by 8 PM. Sunday is the Maine game and I can't wait. Plus Allison is coming back with me and spending the whole week! That will be awesome. It will be busy that Sunday. Mitch's parents will be here for the game, and then they are taking his kids back for us so we don't have to drive all that way.

Zach had fun at soccer practice last night with Mitch and John. He got some new Adidas soccer shorts and looks adorable.

Other than that, I am waiting for the pizza to get done and watching The OC. Sierra is sleeping on the couch and Hayley is doing her homework. Oh yeah, and Mitch bought me a new cappuccino maker because mine broke during the move. I used it for the first time tonight.

Current Mood: smiley
Current Music: whatever is on The OC

9/17/07

A very busy weekend. The URI vs. Brown game was a bit heated. Kind of fun when you're just in the audience, but when your loverboy is the one of the people involved it isn't so much fun.

Mitch's brother Ryan was here this weekend. It was fun. We all went to the beach Saturday night because it was still warm out and the sunset was gorgeous. We came back and had the birthday cake that Hayley and Millie made for Ryan's birthday. We all played some American Idol after. It was pretty much a perfect weekend.

Friday night, the girls and I went down to the boardwalk at the town beach for the end of summer festival, which included a carnival. That was fun.

Now I have to take a relaxing hot shower and clean the house and pick the kids up at 2. Mitch will come back to get Zach and they'll both go back to soccer practice.

9/14/07

I am not sure what the kids and I are going to do when they get home from school. Maybe a movie, maybe the beach, or maybe some mall shopping in Warwick.

I spent some quality time with Sierra this morning. She is now napping on the loveseat next to me. A happy sweet baby.

I had some nightmares last night, one of which was Sierra getting hit by a car. It has ruined my morning, that is for sure. Another one, I was being chased by someone. I woke up yelling leave me alove. I hardly ever talk or yell or scream because of a dream. Anyway, I am glad I am awake now, with Sierra sleeping by my side.

Another exciting day in the neighborhood. Not really! Kind of boring here today. The kids have tomorrow off from school for Rosh Hashanah. Another good thing about not living in a mostly Catholic state, like Maine is, is that the kids get both Christian and Jewish holidays off from school! We'll spend tomorrow at the beach. We will go over today when they get home from school, too. There won't be many more beach days, so we'll have to enjoy them while they last. They only have one full week of school in the whole month of September, which is next week. Last week, they only had three days. This week, 4. Next week, a full week, and the week after...4 days. And they didn't even start until the 5th! The girls have a dance Friday night. I don't know if they are going to want to go or not.

Today I am going to lay in the sun and take a shower, pick up the kids from school and then head to the beach. Life is so hard right at this moment! :) I will try to take some more pics today.

I think we will have chicken and dumplings tonight for supper. The lasagna was good last night. I used Italian sausage instead of hamburger. The girls loved it and Mitch took some to work with him today, so I guess it must be edible if he'll pass up commons food for my cooking.

I have cable in my room now! Mitch hooked up our tv in our room. There was no cable upstairs, so we had to have it installed. Not that we really need cable or even tv in our room. We are usually busy or sleeping when we are up there. But it will keep me company when he is out of town.

9/11/07

It has been a busy day so far and it is only 1 PM! Zach isn't feeling well. Headache and nausea. Mitch and I both had something like that last week. He is in his room napping right now, with Sierra sleeping next to him keeping a close watch on her patient.

I got my nails done! I love the nail salon. They were very nice there and my nails were done perfectly, just like I like them! And they were even cheaper than where I used to get them done in Maine, so that is always a good thing!!!

I have to get the girls at 2 from school and go to the Post Office, then I have to run to the grocery store to figure out something for supper. I'm in the mood for some lasagna tonight. I think Mitch and the kids will be fine with that. Either that or Mitch can make pizza tonight and I'll make lasagna tomorrow night.

Yesterday and today were great days here. I am feeling much more settled and relaxed. Mitch is much relieved that my smile is back!

It is good to have my blog all up to date again and now I have to start back to work on my novel. Or at least some short fiction, to keep my writing flowing.

Have a great day everyone and don't forget to keep the families directly affected by 9/11 in your prayers today.

1500 Post!!!

Not bad, seeing as how I haven't been able to blog like I usually do!

Zach won't find out until the roster is posted tomorrow at lunch time if he made the soccer team or not. He's confident but a bit cautious because he is the new kid at school. He's made so many new friends already, though, so he'll be fine even if he doesn't make the team.

Mitch has to work on the router some more when he gets home. We're having "issues" with it and he couldn't get it working right yet. I bought him a nice card at the Hallmark store today, reminding him how much I love him. I have it on his pillow tonight.

We had a fantastic day together today. We went shopping and had lunch at Wendy's and picked up the kids at school and went to the bank to add me on to the account. We went to the post office and had some fabulous make out sessions.

Not sure what we're having for supper tonight. I'm not in the mood to really cook anything. We ate out last night. Not in the mood for that either. I hate being bored with food! I'm just not really craving anything lately. I think I want something, I get it or make it and then it isn't really what I wanted after all.

Two A Day!

It is a two-a-day blog Sunday! Yay!!! I haven't had one of those in a LOOOOOOONG time! Mitch and I get to spend the day together tomorrow! I am so excited. It is much needed. He has been super busy with pre-season and now the first few games. Yes, I get to see him every night and wake up to him every morning, but it isn't like when he'd come to Maine for 3 or 4 days and we'd be together the whole time. Obviously, I know we can't be together all the time, and I wouldn't want that, but it has been a long three weeks, with him being so busy.

The kids and I had supper at Pizza Hut tonight. We played some DDR after and then Zachie went outside to practice his soccer skillz! Tomorrow is the last day of try-outs. I am hopeful I will be able to put my pics up tomorrow. They are at least loaded onto my computer, ready to go.

Tomorrow Mitch and I have to add me to his/our checking account. He had to get it before I got down here and we've been so busy that neither of us have had the time to make it in to sign the paper work during business hours. We've just been depositing my checks in the account but currently we only have one Debit card...kinda need two when he is outta town, like this weekend. So tomorrow, we have to drop the kids off at school, bank, post office, Best Buy and then some much needed and wanted cuddle time before the kids get home from school.

On Tuesday I desperately need my nails filled. They are driving me crazy. The kids have Thursday off from school, so that will be cool. I think we'll spend the day at the beach.

Well, I have to go take a bath and shave my legs.

September 9, 2007

The kids and I had a great time shopping in CT. They are all set for school now and I even bought a few things for me, including a new charger for my ibook. I think we're going to finish things around here at the house, like laundry and homework, and then we'll head to the beach for the afternoon. Mitch will be home sometime tonight.

Karen called yesterday while we were shopping. She sent big hugs from my Bailey-boo. I miss my sweet girl so much!!!

Shopping!

I have to get ready for my busy day, but I thought I'd blog because it is exciting to be able to do that again! I do think I needed a little break from all of the technology. I was finishing books in a day again, like I used to, instead of wasting the afternoon blogging or on Myspace.

The kids and I are going to my sister's in Connecticut today. She is about an hour from here. We're going to hit up the malls in her area. I am hopefully going to buy a new charger today for my computer.

Today would be a perfect beach day. About 84 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, the kids are dying to go shopping.

News from Rhode Island

Hi everyone! I had big plans about what I'd write about when I finally had internet again...and I really don't know what to say! I'm not blogging on my laptop. I'm using Mitch's until I get a new charger/power cord for mine this weekend, so it feels weird. His keys aren't as comfortable under my fingers as mine, not to mention I haven't blogged in almost a month! I have a ton of beautiful pics. I want to load them onto my computer, though, so hopefully I'll get to that this weekend.

We are a two minute walk to the beach. The kids and I love that. We were there every day last week. They started school on Wednesday. They love their new schools and their new friends, even while missing their old ones. Zach tries out for soccer tonight. He is excited! He had a great time going to the URI soccer game last Friday. He loved going out on the field after to see Mitch and John and the team.

Mitch is gone until Sunday. They were going to South Bend and playing there tonight and they have another game on Sunday before flying home. I am taking the kids to my sister's in CT tomorrow. We're going to spend the day shopping and hanging out with Gracie.

We love the house. The kids love their rooms and Sierra has adjusted very well. Not one accident in the house. I have heard stories about dogs who struggle with the stress of moving and a new environment. She wasn't crazy about the 5 hour drive here, but she loves being with the kids and having me home all day! Our neighbors are very friendly. They've all met and all enjoy Sierra's crazy antics.

I can't wait for everyone to see the pics. I was a bit stressed last week. Getting the kids registered for school, waiting for records, birth certificates, physicals, etc...I guess it wasn't so unusual to be stressed. Still, I've had a quiet few years the last few years, with minimal stress, except for relationship stuff with Brian, so I felt like I wasn't handling the move well. But this week, now that the kids are very comfortable with their schools and we've found the BEST pediatrician ever for Zachary, and the fact that I am no longer in fear of getting lost, I am certainly enjoying this new adventure a lot more. The weather has been insanely gorgeous. Not a drop of rain since we got here. That looks like it will change on Sunday! We're in for a few showers.

I've been a bit under the weather the last few days. Upset stomach and a horrible headache...I'm thinking sinuses. The nausea comes and goes, but this headache is relentless! 1000 mg of Tylenol is barely taking the edge off and of course, I am allergic to ibuprofen. I finally got 8 hours of sleep in without any wake-ups in the middle of the night! One would think falling asleep to the sound of the ocean's waves every night would be relaxing, but surprisingly, one needs to get used to it.

All in all, the move was a success. I am so glad we went for it.
