Ahhhhhhhh!

House is slowly coming together. Laundry is slowly getting caught up. I don't have to work till Wednesday. Bella is taking her morning nap. In her room. Whaaaaaat? Yes, Nonni is awesome. Schedules, schedules, schedules people. It isn't hard. I can't express enough how EASY parenting is when both mother and baby are on proper sleep schedules.

I think I'm going to get some reading done. I'm almost finished my book, then onto book 4 of the series. I have Kayla hooked. She's on book two so I better hurry up or we will both be sharing book 3.

Saturday

Another foggy morning. It burns off pretty quickly but depressing to wake up to. We have another day or two of it (morning fog) according to the forecast.

Friday

I suppose I should get up. I slept horribly. Been up since 4ish. Again. I had the worst dreams last night when I was actually sleeping. I have Monday off. That's kind of good news. My husband and I are going to clean the camper (again) and maybe we can take a "vacation" in the backyard. He and I LOVE sleeping out there. So peaceful.

Summer season has officially started here. Tourists started driving into town around Wednesday.

We need a new grill. Want to get wood for the fire pit. Fill up the tiki torches. Grrrrrr! My beach gear is all in the back of my van which is still being fixed.

So my schedule next week looks nice. Monday and Tuesday off. Wednesday a couple hours. Thursday a couple of hours and Friday with Tonya if she doesn't cancel. If everything goes well, my schedule should return to normal this week.

Not nearly as crisp as the blackberry tour camera. And you really can't change the settings. Too bad Apple can't team up with some of the better camera phone makers and give a consumer EVERYTHING. The beauty of smart phones is so a consumer only needs carry one device. Unfortunately it seems as each phone is the best at one or two things, so you still have to pick and choose which best suits your needs. Even the droid takes horrible pics. Best ones so far are on the blackberry. I DO have a nice digital camera. Again, it is nice when you're unexpectedly having a memorable moment to be able to capture it and post it using ONE device. Most smart phones have 5+ megapixels anyway so quality shouldn't be so difficult to swing.

Still

Still trying to get the hang of the camera on my new phone.

Tomorrow...

...is supposed to be gorgeous. And??? Staff meeting right smack in the middle of the day for two hours! The thunderstorms coming this way today might prove to be severe! Other than the storms, we're supposed to have sun today. Right now it is 65 and foggy at 7:46 am.

I'm drinking my coffee, blogging, going to take a shower, tan, bring Kayla to work, and then Bella and I will visit with David for his birthday.

Gnomeo & Juliet and Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 came in the mail yesterday. They're both cute.

My husband is jealous of my iPhone. Not sure why. His Droid pretty much does all the same stuff. He can't upgrade for a few more months. I have to admit my phone is pretty cool!

Hoping...

...to see the sun today. Has there ever been a more miserable spring? Can't believe I waited all winter for this crap.

So I'm addicted to my iPhone. It is mostly like my iPad, which I'm very familiar with. I'm missing a few Blackberry features but I'm sure to get over that soon. Once the newness of the phone wears off, I will be able conserve battery power a bit better.

My world is officially a MacWorld. MacBook, iBook, iPhone, iPad, and iPod. Sa-weeeet!

Playing with my iPhone

Awww Yah!

This blog is going to shake things up a bit. Well actually my new iPhone is going to shake this blog up a bit! Videos on my blackberry are impossiblly difficult to load right on my blog. My Flip takes great video, but transferring them to my laptop and then to the blog is annoying and time consuming. I'm hoping the iMovie app is worth the $4.99. I will be able to edit right on my phone without having to use my MacBook. Sooooooo flipping excited.

Eh...

Gorgeous day outside. I'm enjoying it while it lasts. Nice of my husband to ask if maybe I needed his car for an hour or so, in case I needed to do something. Oh I don't know tan, pick up a personal item or two. I have been stuck at this house since Tuesday. Trust me, I'm keeping score and we will see who needs what when my car is fixed.

Friday, May 20, 2011

Hmmmm...

Amazing!!!

So not only has God taken care of my transmission nightmare, He has taken my need of a little break seriously and prompted my boss to ask if I needed a few more days off because I always help out when we have a scheduling crisis. She was like, "if anyone needs a break, it is you. You always fill in and help out." She also said if I needed OT, she'd give it to me. Really, the weekend to recover for the last 2 months of overtime is perfect! No extra overtime needed.

God also knows when I take time off, I am rarely able to enjoy it because we usually have places to be and people to see. I'm often in need of a vacation after my vacation. So he's given me the inability to drive for a few more days. I have no choice but to just stop. Relax. Clean my house. Spend time with my family.

Why the World WON'T End Tomorrow

1st reason: we wouldn't all be that lucky.
2nd reason: if you're going to use the Bible to predict the end of the world, maybe you should READ the part about not knowing the hour or the day. Yes, the world will end, but we are expected to live appropriately until that time comes. THE END.

Thursday, May 19, 2011

Amen!

What are the chances the week I need to pay $2300 for a new transmission is the same week I get a $3200 back child support check??? And receiving said check after two months of not getting anything.

Currently praising God because He's failed to let me down. What an AWESOME father I have!

The Reason, a photo by jennluvsgable on Flickr.

Any and all struggling in my life has been for this one reason...to see my children's children so happy and content.

Better

I'm feeling a bit less grouchy about things. Drinking my mocha cappuccino. Also enjoying a cup of red miso soup. Despite the horror show that is this week, I have today and tomorrow off. I had Tuesday and Wednesday off too. I'm a bit bored and still a bit stressed but I vow to enjoy the rest of today and all of tomorrow!

Deleted

I deleted my very angry post from yesterday. For those of you that missed it, I said the f word a few times. Sometimes saying it (writing it) helps. I'm sure it summed up what every middle class American has felt a time or two or a dozen. Just once I guess, I would like to see someone get what they deserve. And just once I would actually like to enjoy my hard work instead of seeing it handed over as quickly as I make it. Seriously, the only thing keeping me going while working those 39 hours of overtime was the thought of the stuff I would be able to pick up this weekend. A sandbox. A new grill. Instead I get to buy a transmission at $2300 because my warranty ran out about 12,000 miles ago. My rant was more about the $3000 tax bill last month because somebody has to pay for everybody's "invisible" illnesses. Well fuck you. If I see that post on someone's fb wall again, I'm going to flip the switch! You don't work, you don't eat. That's how I'd run the government. There needs to be a state where only hard working Americans can live. Where their thousands of dollars in taxes get spent on their lives. I worked on an effing sprained ankle instead of using my sick time because I just might need it sometime in a real emergency. I work with people who get a pinched nerve and are out a month! I don't get why people who abuse systems this way aren't the ones with the $3000 tax bill. Maybe it is because they have 4 different kids by four different guys and also claim disability for them. But no, instead let's waste money on stopping two gay people from getting married. How about cracking down on people who don't contribute to society???

I will be my "happy" self again. I have many more blessings than woes. I have the love of a wonderful man and kids and the sweetest dog ever. Bella left her sleeping mother this morning and came in my room (and proceeded to pee in my bed) for morning hugs and kisses and cuddles. I'm angry that this country expects to take money away from this baby to give to somebody else's unfortunate child and the only way she would get the money would be to allow her to live in a dangerous situation. I'm not anti-welfare but I certainly agree with time limits. I also don't think your benefits should extend or increase if you get pregnant while already on welfare. I also don't think parents should be allowed to stay in college for 15 years because welfare time limits don't start till your out of school.

My husband and I will get through this trial and we will be smarter for it. Time to get smart about deductions and write offs because y'all aren't getting mine next year!

Cleaning!

Feeling better already! Bella's classical music is playing. Floors are swept and mopped. Old mail sorted through and decluttered. I'm going to get a tote and put all mail that we don't feel comfortable tossing yet in so it is handy, yet out of sight!!! Dishes washed. Sinks cleaned. Counters and table washed. Candles burning. While I'm waiting on God to sort some things out, I'm doing what I can do to help my piece of mind. Cleaning helps, listening to music helps, and clean, uncluttered surroundings help too.

5/18/11

So I've gotten some unexpected time off. Not necessarily the way I hoped, but sometimes you are forced to slow down, and that can be a good thing. I think God knew it would take something big and briefly insurmountable to get me to slow down. I am learning that I don't have to be everything to everyone, but I DO need to be everything to a few someones. And I'm pretty much useless to everyone if I spread myself too thin.

I'm going to try and enjoy my mini break. I'm going to scrub the house and make one of my husband's favorite meals. I guess I can start drinking early since I won't be driving today! The best news? It is a dreary, rainy day, perfect for cleaning and cooking! I won't feel guilty about wasting the sun when there isn't any!

Our first real beach day in 2011!

5/17/11

I scored big shopping last night. Shorts for me and Mitch, jacket and shorts for Zach, two hoodies for me, a book for me, and several outfits for Bella (Ralph Lauren and Baby Gap).

My schedule is so close to changing I can almost taste it! Not next Monday, but the one after, I will go from 46 hours to 42. I have today off but I agreed to go in 2:30-4 to cover for a meeting. I'm also going in two hours early this Saturday and possibly next, but after that Vinny should be good to go.

I've been sleeping fairly well and not even waking up much, so that's good, but come 6 or 7pm, I'm beat. I'm going to chalk that up to the dreary spring. What a disaster.

5/16/11

Loving my nails!!! They're fluorescent pink! They look so good with my tan! What a fun color! Only have a few moments to blog. Has this not been the most blah spring ever??? I'm usually at the beach swimming in the ocean by now. That being said, I did go in on Friday. It was surprisingly warm. Warmer than Sandy Beach in Maine can ever dream of being. But I need me some sun. Let's go mother nature. Enough of this bull.

5/15/11

Slept great last night. Woke up, enjoyed a great cup of coffee, got my hair done, my nails done, got my toes done, went tanning, went for a ride with my husband, ate at Wendys, came home and played with Bella, cleaned the kitchen a bit, and am going to make quiche for dinner per Mitch and Zach. Then I'm going to go to bed and watch tv and catch up on more of the sleep that I've been deprived of. Training Vinny tomorrow. I hope it will lead to one shift I can get rid of.

5/14/11

What a crappy day. I knew it would be in comparison to yesterday's greatness. It isn't raining. Just cloudy. I'm freezing and feeling crabby. I have zero motivation today. Z-E-R-O

I think I'm going to get up and go tanning. That'll warm me up. I saw way too much white flesh yesterday. Seriously people, do the world a favor and cover up if you're so anti-tan. Blech!

5/13/11

I had a really awesome day at the beach today. Like super awesome. Can't wait till the weather is nice again so I can do it again. It is supposed to rain all weekend. :(

Going out tonight. My ankle is feeling better but still aches a lot and is still swollen but I'm going to try walking my route tomorrow. Walking in the sand today was good and bad. Good because your foot needs to flex more in sand so my ankle was getting a workout, bad because now it hurts.

5/11/11

Have I really taken 5 days from blogging? I guess so. I wish I could tell you something exciting happened. One word pretty much sums it up...overtime. I need a break.

I have been watching season one and two of Glee. I'm going to die if they don't release season 2, part 2, pretty dang quick!

I want to do something fun with my husband. Any kind of fun hikes are out for a bit because of my ankle. It is getting better. Little by little.

Thursday, May 05, 2011

5/5/11

So my ankle was the most swollen it has been, yesterday afternoon. I iced it, elevated it, compressed it and then it went to the least swollen it has had been since the accident. Crazy. Today it is about the same as it was yesterday when I woke up with less swelling and more mobility. Guess I'm gonna live.

Not a lot planned today. Tanning. A couple of hours in NK. Then home for dinner. Kayla doesn't work again till Saturday so I "should" get a break from Bella but somebody was peering over the edge of the bed looking at me till I woke up. I'm a sucker. Her cuteness is too hard to resist.

Wednesday, May 04, 2011

5/4/11

Have my ankle wrapped this morning. It was aching by the time I woke up and the compression is helping for now. Last night I couldn't stand having it wrapped. It should be an easy day today, but I have the committee meeting after...so now a longer day than I wanted.

Good news is I'm barely limping now. Still a considerable amount of swelling, but not as bad as yesterday. I can bend my foot up and down but rotating in circles still causes a lot of pain. When I walked on it today, it cracked a couple of times but feels a lot better. The outer edge of my leg/ankle is where all the pain seems localized now. The hardest part right now is just finding comfortable positions.

This would have been a boring post if I hadn't sprained my ankle! I am so busy at work that I have little time to do anything exciting to blog about. My favorite way to sit is Indian style and grrrr...my bright leg does not like being out straight!

I will be an ok old person as long as I don't become immobile. I'm a fast walker and these last few days, I've been so frustrated with myself. When I don't feel well, I usually just keep doing what I'm doing and deny. With this injury, I've been unable to ignore it and will it away. It has made me slow down and I don't like it!!! So thankful I didn't do something stupid like break it! The thought of being down for 6-8 weeks makes me glad this will only last a few days.

Tuesday, May 03, 2011

5/3/11

Feeling kind of yucky. My ankle is still swollen and I'm still limping but I'm going to call this a 1st to 2nd degree sprain, for which there is no major treatment. Rest, ice, compression and elevation. Blah blah blah. I took the 1st responder course. Not worth the emergency room co-pay. Actually immobilizing joints for too long creates more problems than helps. Stiff ligaments, weak ankles, high susceptibility to re-injury. I will just use it as little as possible today. By tomorrow morning, the first 48 hours will have passed and I should feel significantly better. Initially, there may have been some dislocation because I was in excruciating pain, the kind that takes your breath away, and I couldn't walk at all, plus my nose and lip were bleeding quite badly so one hand was on my nose, applying pressure, as I crawled up the steps with one hand. Once I forced myself to stand and put weight on my ankle, there was a loud crack/pop and my ankle felt MUCH better and I could then walk with a limp.

Today is my day off. Except I'm watching Bella. Should get interesting since I can't walk well.

57 hours this week. 46 next week. 46 is my "regular" schedule till someone either comes back to work or we hire someone else. I want my 35 hours back please and thank you.

I'm happy to see blue skies this morning. It was supposed to be cloudy today. I have to take a shower, go tanning, figure out what I'm making for dinner tonight and take Kayla to work. Injury or no injury, a mother's work is never done!

I have to say, Bella is the cutest thing ever! Her personality is coming through more and more every day and she's proving to be a little ham like her Uncle Zach was. She loves to make her family laugh with her antics. She loves most people and is rarely shy. She gets that from her Aunt Hayley. She also gets her pain in the ass independent streak from her Aunt Hayley as well, and quite possibly her Nonni! She gets her cuddliness from her Mommy. Kayla has been my sidekick since the day she was born. Bella's eyes are like my dad's, my brother Adam's, my cousin Shannon's, Zach's and mine. I'm talking shape. My dad's are green, mine blue, Zach's hazel and Shannon's are brown. It is fun to see her turning into the person she will become right before us.

Happy May Day

Happy is a bit of an exaggeration but ok...

I'm hoping to sit in the sun till I head back to work at 3. Just going to focus on thoughts of my overtime check. Bella is getting a sandbox and there was a sweet little swing I saw for her. It had a swing that she can be belted in, a little slide and a basketball hoop, which she would definitely love because she plays with Zach's basketball and sits fascinated when he's playing. Right now, she's quite content to roam the property!

It is fun watching her discover things. We have to get her pool cleaned out and scrubbed out with some bleach to get ready for the hot days ahead. It should be a pretty relaxing summer since she loves to be outside so much. I was worried because I watch her a lot, and when the weather's not great, I don't feel I'm missing anything, but if I get a day off from work AND the sun is shining, and I have Bella...grrrrr...but it looks like that isn't going to be a problem.
