Memorial Weekend Wrap-Up

The weather was spectacular on Sunday. I am glad that was the day the kids and I decided to spend at the beach. Monday proved a lot breezier and chillier than the 80 degrees they had predicted. It was a nice time. Burgers on the grill. Potato salad. Etc. Mitch and I took a nice drive.

I have been searching online for stuff I want to do this summer and fall. Hit the our zoo in Providence. The aquarium in Mystic. Some area beaches I've been doing some investigating. Ride on some of our fantastic bike trails. Newport Folk Festival. Do some ghost hunting. Rhode Island is quite haunted much to my delight. Go to Block Island. Take a sunset cruise. Dance at least one Thursday at the Towers in town. They have dancing there with a live band every Thursday night. Take the girls especially to Salem. Spend the day in New York CIty again soon. I want to find Balto in Central Park. Visit DC again. Take in some Providence sights...like the famed WaterFire, and some museums. Also I want to spend some time at the library. SO I get to figure out how I am going to fit that all in with work, trips to Maine, and laying in the sun!

Mitch and I are doing a book study together. It is fun. Plus we are finding out even more about each other than we might not even have thought about discussing before.

Lots of Stuff

Yesterday was Zachary's 14th birthday. Sad for me. Mitch and his sisters and I took him shopping and out to dinner at TGI Fridays where the waiter promised to embarrass him sufficiently with some kind of birthday song. Zach got a new baseball glove and a new bike to replace his new bike he got last year for his birthday that was stolen in less than 3 weeks after his birthday. We're in a much nicer neighborhood now, so I think we'll have better luck. He always has lobster on his birthday, but really only he and I like it, so we chose a family dinner out and tomorrow I will pick up some lobster and make it here. Mitch and the girls will get something else though equally nice.

Mother's Day was nice. I got flowers and a lovely picture signed by the artist (my daughter). She will be majoring in Art/Photography next year...where, we don't know yet...somewhere in Florida, California or Texas. I also dined at Boston Market. YUM...that is all I have to say about that!

I have a 3 hour staff meeting today. Noon to 3. Then off to Hope and Brian's for the night. I got my nails done yesterday and Mitch got his haircut. We are looking at new cars...something Chrysler I think, because if you buy, they are setting your gas prices at $2.99 and paying the difference. I don't think I've owned anything Chrysler, but Mitch's dad traded the Volvo for a Pacifica and loves it. I have to admit, it is a VERY nice ride on the inside. We did see a Jaguar that I love love love. But really we just need something better on gas than the Suburban.

Okay...I have to get in the shower if I want to go tanning before the meeting.

May 6, 2008

I have tomorrow off. I work 14 hours on Thursday however. We are running even more short-staffed then usual. BUT the overtime will continue to be nice. I have made like 3 x's my salary last year in just 4 months.

I am still reading A Prayer for Owen Meany but I am also reading Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer so Owen Meany is taking me longer than expected.
