Another exciting day in the neighborhood. Not really! Kind of boring here today. The kids have tomorrow off from school for Rosh Hashanah. Another good thing about not living in a mostly Catholic state, like Maine is, is that the kids get both Christian and Jewish holidays off from school! We'll spend tomorrow at the beach. We will go over today when they get home from school, too. There won't be many more beach days, so we'll have to enjoy them while they last. They only have one full week of school in the whole month of September, which is next week. Last week, they only had three days. This week, 4. Next week, a full week, and the week after...4 days. And they didn't even start until the 5th! The girls have a dance Friday night. I don't know if they are going to want to go or not.

Today I am going to lay in the sun and take a shower, pick up the kids from school and then head to the beach. Life is so hard right at this moment! :) I will try to take some more pics today.

I think we will have chicken and dumplings tonight for supper. The lasagna was good last night. I used Italian sausage instead of hamburger. The girls loved it and Mitch took some to work with him today, so I guess it must be edible if he'll pass up commons food for my cooking.

I have cable in my room now! Mitch hooked up our tv in our room. There was no cable upstairs, so we had to have it installed. Not that we really need cable or even tv in our room. We are usually busy or sleeping when we are up there. But it will keep me company when he is out of town.

9/11/07

It has been a busy day so far and it is only 1 PM! Zach isn't feeling well. Headache and nausea. Mitch and I both had something like that last week. He is in his room napping right now, with Sierra sleeping next to him keeping a close watch on her patient.

I got my nails done! I love the nail salon. They were very nice there and my nails were done perfectly, just like I like them! And they were even cheaper than where I used to get them done in Maine, so that is always a good thing!!!

I have to get the girls at 2 from school and go to the Post Office, then I have to run to the grocery store to figure out something for supper. I'm in the mood for some lasagna tonight. I think Mitch and the kids will be fine with that. Either that or Mitch can make pizza tonight and I'll make lasagna tomorrow night.

Yesterday and today were great days here. I am feeling much more settled and relaxed. Mitch is much relieved that my smile is back!

It is good to have my blog all up to date again and now I have to start back to work on my novel. Or at least some short fiction, to keep my writing flowing.

Have a great day everyone and don't forget to keep the families directly affected by 9/11 in your prayers today.

1500 Post!!!

Not bad, seeing as how I haven't been able to blog like I usually do!

Zach won't find out until the roster is posted tomorrow at lunch time if he made the soccer team or not. He's confident but a bit cautious because he is the new kid at school. He's made so many new friends already, though, so he'll be fine even if he doesn't make the team.

Mitch has to work on the router some more when he gets home. We're having "issues" with it and he couldn't get it working right yet. I bought him a nice card at the Hallmark store today, reminding him how much I love him. I have it on his pillow tonight.

We had a fantastic day together today. We went shopping and had lunch at Wendy's and picked up the kids at school and went to the bank to add me on to the account. We went to the post office and had some fabulous make out sessions.

Not sure what we're having for supper tonight. I'm not in the mood to really cook anything. We ate out last night. Not in the mood for that either. I hate being bored with food! I'm just not really craving anything lately. I think I want something, I get it or make it and then it isn't really what I wanted after all.

Two A Day!

It is a two-a-day blog Sunday! Yay!!! I haven't had one of those in a LOOOOOOONG time! Mitch and I get to spend the day together tomorrow! I am so excited. It is much needed. He has been super busy with pre-season and now the first few games. Yes, I get to see him every night and wake up to him every morning, but it isn't like when he'd come to Maine for 3 or 4 days and we'd be together the whole time. Obviously, I know we can't be together all the time, and I wouldn't want that, but it has been a long three weeks, with him being so busy.

The kids and I had supper at Pizza Hut tonight. We played some DDR after and then Zachie went outside to practice his soccer skillz! Tomorrow is the last day of try-outs. I am hopeful I will be able to put my pics up tomorrow. They are at least loaded onto my computer, ready to go.

Tomorrow Mitch and I have to add me to his/our checking account. He had to get it before I got down here and we've been so busy that neither of us have had the time to make it in to sign the paper work during business hours. We've just been depositing my checks in the account but currently we only have one Debit card...kinda need two when he is outta town, like this weekend. So tomorrow, we have to drop the kids off at school, bank, post office, Best Buy and then some much needed and wanted cuddle time before the kids get home from school.

On Tuesday I desperately need my nails filled. They are driving me crazy. The kids have Thursday off from school, so that will be cool. I think we'll spend the day at the beach.

Well, I have to go take a bath and shave my legs.

September 9, 2007

The kids and I had a great time shopping in CT. They are all set for school now and I even bought a few things for me, including a new charger for my ibook. I think we're going to finish things around here at the house, like laundry and homework, and then we'll head to the beach for the afternoon. Mitch will be home sometime tonight.

Karen called yesterday while we were shopping. She sent big hugs from my Bailey-boo. I miss my sweet girl so much!!!

Shopping!

I have to get ready for my busy day, but I thought I'd blog because it is exciting to be able to do that again! I do think I needed a little break from all of the technology. I was finishing books in a day again, like I used to, instead of wasting the afternoon blogging or on Myspace.

The kids and I are going to my sister's in Connecticut today. She is about an hour from here. We're going to hit up the malls in her area. I am hopefully going to buy a new charger today for my computer.

Today would be a perfect beach day. About 84 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, the kids are dying to go shopping.

News from Rhode Island

Hi everyone! I had big plans about what I'd write about when I finally had internet again...and I really don't know what to say! I'm not blogging on my laptop. I'm using Mitch's until I get a new charger/power cord for mine this weekend, so it feels weird. His keys aren't as comfortable under my fingers as mine, not to mention I haven't blogged in almost a month! I have a ton of beautiful pics. I want to load them onto my computer, though, so hopefully I'll get to that this weekend.

We are a two minute walk to the beach. The kids and I love that. We were there every day last week. They started school on Wednesday. They love their new schools and their new friends, even while missing their old ones. Zach tries out for soccer tonight. He is excited! He had a great time going to the URI soccer game last Friday. He loved going out on the field after to see Mitch and John and the team.

Mitch is gone until Sunday. They were going to South Bend and playing there tonight and they have another game on Sunday before flying home. I am taking the kids to my sister's in CT tomorrow. We're going to spend the day shopping and hanging out with Gracie.

We love the house. The kids love their rooms and Sierra has adjusted very well. Not one accident in the house. I have heard stories about dogs who struggle with the stress of moving and a new environment. She wasn't crazy about the 5 hour drive here, but she loves being with the kids and having me home all day! Our neighbors are very friendly. They've all met and all enjoy Sierra's crazy antics.

I can't wait for everyone to see the pics. I was a bit stressed last week. Getting the kids registered for school, waiting for records, birth certificates, physicals, etc...I guess it wasn't so unusual to be stressed. Still, I've had a quiet few years the last few years, with minimal stress, except for relationship stuff with Brian, so I felt like I wasn't handling the move well. But this week, now that the kids are very comfortable with their schools and we've found the BEST pediatrician ever for Zachary, and the fact that I am no longer in fear of getting lost, I am certainly enjoying this new adventure a lot more. The weather has been insanely gorgeous. Not a drop of rain since we got here. That looks like it will change on Sunday! We're in for a few showers.

I've been a bit under the weather the last few days. Upset stomach and a horrible headache...I'm thinking sinuses. The nausea comes and goes, but this headache is relentless! 1000 mg of Tylenol is barely taking the edge off and of course, I am allergic to ibuprofen. I finally got 8 hours of sleep in without any wake-ups in the middle of the night! One would think falling asleep to the sound of the ocean's waves every night would be relaxing, but surprisingly, one needs to get used to it.

All in all, the move was a success. I am so glad we went for it.

August 15, 2007

I have the worst headache today. Mostly from stress and lack of sleep and a possibility of dehydration. I can hear Brian now telling me that I haven't had enough water to drink. Sooo I just popped some pills, drank some water and am brewing a small pot of coffee. Eric, I may be making your hotel lobby my office very soon. I need some contact with my friends and some wireless internet. I have been so busy with getting stuff boxed and packed and divided between storage and what we're taking. Next weekend, I'll be unpacking. Even more fun! Allison is spending the night Friday night and we'll get things ready for our yard sale on Saturday. I am thinking heavy amounts of alcohol may be involved. 'Cause if we drink it, I won't have to pack it!

Shannon and Andrew's friend Adam is meeting me at my house tonight. He wants to buy the washer and dryer. I hope the deal goes thru and he loads both on his truck tonight. If it is a quick transaction, I might actually have time to go get my nails done after. I am in desperate need of a trim and fill. I haven't broken one nail yet during this move! My back, a skull fracture and Hayley sprained her ankle, but my nails are as strong as ever!

My parents are indeed taking the kids to Rhode Island for us and even bringing the truck, so I no longer have to worry about how everything is going to fit. This way they can see the house and see where the kids will be going to school. During summer, there is about a 20,000 population in town...during the school year, maybe 10,000...according to our mail lady. She gave us a much coveted "antique" PO mailbox because she is excited about us moving into town. The town is about the population size of Orono, excluding UMaine students. I have a very good feeling about the move and about the town. There are also some non-profit agencies I am interested in checking out.

August 14, 2007

My last week of work! :( I am a bit sad. I am a lot sad! I've been with most of these kids for the last two years, some for three. I said my goodbyes to my VISTA friends last Wednesday. I am looking forward to the move. Not this weekend but next. I have one more small trip to the storage unit, one yard sale this weekend, one trip to the dump and then all that will be left will be what Mitch and I are packing in my truck and in his trailer. I am going to see if my parents will drive the kids down in their car, that way we'll have the inside of both of our vehicles for stuff, too.

We had a great weekend hanging out with Mitch's friend Jerry and his girlfriend. We had a nice dinner on the grill Saturday night and had some wine. One of the 6 bathrooms in the house has a jacuzzi, so Mitch and I had the opportunity to do some MAJOR relaxing. Sunday we all went to the movies and saw the newest Harry Potter, while having dinner at the theater. That was fun. They have tables and recliners and bring your dinner to you. I also had the opportunity to catch up on some of my favorite shows on cable. I had that shut off and Mitch is having it turned on in our new house this week. He is also getting our PO Box today.

Zachie will be home very soon. I miss my baby boy so much. He will have a ball surfing. I can't wait to get pictures of it.

I will try to blog on Thursday. After that, it might be a week before I catch everyone up and have new pics to show off the new house.

A Day in August

I'm not really sure what day it is, other than it is a Monday and it is August and Wednesday is the 8th...so I guess that makes this the 6th. I will be in Waterville/Augusta on the 8th. My last official day of government duty, even though my last day at work is the 17th. Zachie will be back in Maine on the 17th and then we're moving to Rhode Island that next weekend/week. I'm not sure what day we'll officially leave on, with no return for a few weeks. Mitch's mom will still be in Maine at their summer home, and she said anything we forget or any loose ends I need to tie up, she'll take care of. A huge relief for me! I am pretty sure we'll have everything set to go, but I am a bit worried that I will forget to do something that turns out to be important and we'll already be down there.

I already got the storage unit and made 4 trips over. I plan on doing a run or two tonight and some Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday...Friday I will be in New Hampshire for the weekend and will be leaving after work.

This weekend, we went with Mitch's parents to the Rockland Lobster Festival. It was soooo much fun! We had a blast. It was just the four of us, which was nice...kind of an adult day out. We had dinner in Ellsworth and hung out at his parent's for about an hour or so before we headed back home.

Yesterday, we ran errands and I sold the cap for my truck. We got some pizza and ice-cream from Spencer's and then we went to the Ornamental Gardens on Campus. It is so pretty and quiet and peaceful in there. We played with some frogs and watched some older polywogs play. We saw a little bunny.

I took the girls to the fair on Thursday. It was okay. Last year's was a bit better and was $15 cheaper. Rockland's carnival rides were much better and cheaper for a wristband, but my back has been sore since Thursday and as much as I wanted to go on the better rides, sanity prevailed!

The weather was beautiful yesterday. It was perfect Maine weather and a relief after the hot, humid 90s we've had the past two weeks. It even got a bit chilly last night while sleeping, but it was excellent sleeping weather. There is a nice breeze today and it is warm and sunny. I think we might get an isolated shower tonight.

We had crazy thunderstorms Friday night. A tree at his parent's house got hit by lightning and the top came down and the rest split. It wasn't too near the house or the cars, so that was a good thing.

I have two more hours here at the center, then lunch and then work at the office for a bit. I have to pick up Sierra's Frontline and pick up Hayley in Brewer. Sierra goes outside without her leash now, as long as we're with her(we still live on a busy road for a few more weeks). I didn't doubt she'd stay with me, but I just love her too much to risk her heading out into the road after an errant squirrel or something. She was outside with me. Mitch was washing my truck and the neighbor's cat headed right over to her...I was like, Oh Crap! Here we go!!! She looked at the cat and headed over but I said her name and she stopped and stayed and never left my side. Part of this is due to her healthy respect of the feline species because of my cat Chloe, who is very mean to Sierra and whom Sierra is scared to death of. This was a boy cat and he wasn't scared of Sierra of all. They played together for awhile and Sierra ended up playing in the backyard for most of the afternoon off leash. She is going to LOVE Narragansett! We're on a quiet street. She has a nice back yard and the beach will be deserted soon when the tourists go home and that will be her playground. Unfortunately, the couple that live behind us have yellow labs that they raise and breed and Mitch and I are doubtful that between his kids and mine, we will be able to leave the neighborhood without ending up with a new puppy.
